Looking for a RD5R
Looking for a RD5R
Hi all,
I'm not so sure if this against the rule, if so, I do apologize and please delete this post.
I'm looking for an RD5R. If anyone has it and would like to sale, please let me know.
Thank you,
KA1CM

Re: Looking for a RD5R
radioddity (official RD-radio)
Re: Looking for a RD5R
They stopped making the RD5R over a year ago.
This was initially because of supply problems with the CPU during the COVID epidemic, and even now I think the CPU is not easy to source so manufacturers gave up on all radios which use the NXP Freescale MK22 CPU.
The same applies to the GD77 and DM1801
So the only radios you will find for sale are either very old stock or second hand

Yep, I'm desperately want one, but can't find it anywhere. If you know someone who want to let it go, please let me know.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 7:41 pmThey stopped making the RD5R over a year ago.

Re: Looking for a RD5R
I'm not aware of anyone that has one for sale.
I have one but I need it for regression testing.
I know a few other people who have them, but they also really like them because they are small, and also can run on non-rechargable batteries (from what I remember it was possible to buy a battery pack for non-rechargables)
Re: Looking for a RD5R
Yep, I desperately want it because it is small and shares all the accessories with the UV-5R. There is also a lot of cool 3D printing project for it.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:33 pm

Re: Looking for a RD5R
I would consider trading my RD5R for another compatible GD77 radio and 2 battery packs.
Re: Looking for a RD5R
I have an RD-5R I haven't really used. Let me know if you're still lookiing.
Re: Looking for a RD5R
I also have a Radioddity RD-5R with official firmware and wanted another one to experiment with OpenGD77, but alas they are no longer in production.
I did however buy one of the clones the Baofeng DM-5R (Tier II) from AliExpress for about $70 and then loaded it up with the OpenGD77 firmware.
I was distracted from that project by other important considerations for a couple of months, but now I am back to playing/experimenting with the DM-5R with OpenGD77.
First thing I must do is read the manual and figure out how to change the Zones! haha
