10W UV380/UV390 PLUS - WORK IN PROGRESS
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Thanks for sharing that video
It did make me chuckle when he said that the battery life is good, and didn't mention the OpenGD77 firmware gives the radio far longer operating time, because we do all sorts of tricks like varying the CPU clock speed and shutting down chips that are not being used, and also supporting display dimming etc etc which all greatly improve the battery life above what you get when running the official firmware.
I don't even know if they changed the Eco mode, because by default it's not agressively trying to save battery life

Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Anyone with a UV380/390 Plus where the screen did not seem to come on, please try this version
downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/c3ff6 ... DUV380.zip
It uses a different control method for the screen, when at 100% or 0% which puts less load on the CPU processing power.
By default the firmware sets the display brightness to 100% I'd like to know if this makes any difference
Also anyone who said FM didn't work, which I presume was associated with the screen going off, please try this version
If on FM the problem is the screen going off, its possibly because in FM we reduce the CPU clock frequency to save battery life, but if the new CPU (MCU) in the UV380 is a less capable device, then we may need to increase the clock frequency all the time to compensate for its lower level of processing power, hence battery drain will be higher on the Plus version and any new radios which have the potential el-Cheepo MCU

Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Update
Can anyone with a UV380/390 Plus, or a non-STM32 CPU UV380/390 please try this version and tell me the CPU information displayed on the Firmware info screen
I've added the CPU Signature, CPU Revison, CPU Package and CPU Flash memory size to this display
downloads/MDUV380_DM1701/Firmware/88559 ... DUV380.zip
For ease, just take a screengrab of this information and post it here
For reference here is the data for my RT-3S STM CPU radio
I don't have any Non-genuine STM32 radios, even my DM-1701 has a genuine CPU

Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Here is my Retevis RT3S with October 2023 build date (according to security sticker in battery compartment).
I never knew the OpenGD77 CPS had a "Screengrab" feature! I'm continually amazed at this software.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Thanks.
Looks like the original Non Genuine CPU's have a different Revision and Package number, but we'd need quite a few more people to post their values before we know for sure.
Currently we're reading a completely different paramater inside the chip, which has the number of Interrupt Priorities, becuase the problem with the clones that TYT started to use last year only have 8 interrupt priorities, but the genuine chips have 16, and Amazon Free RTOS, the Operating System normally requires 16 Interrupt Priorities, so we had to modify the OS to get it to work with the clone chips that TYT started to use at the end of 2022
BTW with the screengrab, it automatically copies the screengrab to the Windows clipboard, so you only need to save as a PNG if you actually need the file.
But, the forum system does not support pasting, so you have to save to PNG and then attach the file.
Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Is it possible to install it on the RT3S version without the "plus" ? Is the processor frequency increased here? Perhaps this will solve the problem of missing modulation.VK3KYY wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 10:12 pmUpdate

Re: 10W UV380/UV390 PLUS VERSIONS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED
Hi !
I am attaching a screenshot from the TYT 390 Plus 10W radio station.
I have a 5W and 10W radio station available. The 10W version has a 50% lower backlight ( this is not a defect). I tried to put the front panel from 10W to the 5W version, and everything works correctly there. Including smooth brightness adjustment.

This version should work fine on a normal RT-3S. I installed it on my radio
