Beta version 2023 02 25
Beta version 2023 02 25
New Beta version is now available
downloads/MDUV380/Firmware/f8cfb133cd5c ... 2af178b466
downloads/MDUV380/Firmware/Latest
This version has more changes associated with supporting the new CPU chip
It also displays the CPU type on the firmware information screen
CPU:STM is displayed if the radio contains a genuine STM32F405
or
CPU:TYT if the radio contains the new unknow / unmarked / unbranded chip that TYT are using
The build date time has also been changed to display in the format YYYYMMDDhhmmss so that the display is the same as the MD-9600
Its likely I will update the GD77 version to show build date time in the same format, so that this is consistent across all radios, as it will simplify the User Guide.
As usual JA_ versions are for Japanese character support

Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
Thanks! This version also works great. And it confirms my suspicions that my RT3S - bought last week from Amazon and made in 12/2022 according to the sticker - does have the "TYT" chip. I'm working on the complete set - have the GD77, MD-9600 GPS and RT3S GPS all working on openGD now.

If you want to get the complet set you also need and old Baofeng DM-1801 (before they completely redesigned it), a Baofeng RD-5R (or DM-5R MK2) , a GD-77S, and all 5 hardware versions of the MD-9600
I have 6 x GD-77, 1 x DM-1801, 1 x RD-5R, 1 x GD-77S (on loan from another Ham), 1 x RT-3S GPS, 1 xMD-9600 HW V2 and 2 x MD-9600 HW V4a/V5
Needless to say, writing this firmware has cost quite a lot over the years.
Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
It seems that the audio level is a lot higher than the alpha versions before. I’m getting a lot of distortion through the HT speaker and having to turn audio levels down to minimum to minimize the speaker sounding like it’s being overdriven.
On a Retevis with a genuine CPU just FYI.

I don't have this problem.KE8WPJ wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 4:00 amIt seems that the audio level is a lot higher than the alpha versions before. You didn't say whether you were listening to DMR or FM
There were no changes to the audio functionality
Try reloading the previous version you were running and compare the results
Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
It was only while running on DMR.
Oddly enough, it seems to be performing as before this morning. I can only presume that something odd was going on with my Pi-Star or my uplink into BrandMeister. If it recurs I'll definitely try reloading the alpha firmware, but for now it appears to be a nothingburger with the code lol.
Thanks for the reply and all the hard work the team puts into this firmware!

Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
DMR audio levels can vary by over 1000%. The main problem on networks like BM etc, appears to be traffic from D-STAR or YSF etc, which is transcoded though a gateway to the DMR network. Often the transcoding results in DMR audio levels 10 times higher than normal.KE8WPJ wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 11:49 amIt was only while running on DMR.

There is a feature
Options->Sound options->DMR AGC which will adjust the DMR audio levels to compensate for this, however like all AGCs it takes time to react to the audio level, and by default it is turned off, and probably hardly anyone even knows that function exists.
Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
I suspect that 99% of radio amateurs who use OG77 know about this function) at one time I had a simple dmr motorolla with a similar AGC function .. after parting with motorola, I really missed this function in any Chinese radio when I saw that it was in OG77 at first I didn’t believe my eyes)) it was a moment of happiness)
Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
beta version installed and working perfectly... and once again thank you
Re: Beta version 2023 02 25
I want to thank the OPENGD77 development team on behalf of all Radio Amateurs in Brazil who use OpenGD77 with Radio RT3S and similar. This firmware gets better every day, and more appreciated by everyone here in Brazil. Thank you OPENGD77 team
