New Beta version 2022 11 18
New Beta version 2022 11 18
A new Beta is available
This version implements Talker Alias Position transmission , also know as In Call GPS.
https://opengd77.com/downloads/GD77/264 ... c2ea2f4fb8
https://opengd77.com/downloads/GD77/Latest
Note.
Not all networks support Talker Alias transmission.
DMR MARC does not support this, and AFIK never well. Do not enable TA Tx if you use a DMR MARC network.
Brandmeister network supports "In Call GPS"
Log into your Brandmeister account and go to the SelfCare section
https://brandmeister.network/?page=selfcare
Select radio Brand as ETSI, or Motorola or Hytera
This will then allow the "In Call GPS" option to be enabled
Save these settings
On the radio..
Enter your location into the Radio Info screen
Then enable TA Tx . Options -> Radio Options -> TA Tx:On
Transmit for server seconds.
Check on https://aprs.fi to see if your position has been reported
Important
Currently not all Brandmeister servers handle negative values of Latitude and Longitude
If your position is not being reported on https://aprs.fi, change to one of the BM servers running the latest software update.
See https://brandmeister.network/?page=masters
Edit.
Currently the location can on be entered to 3 decimal places of accuracy, which is an approximate accuracy of 100m
Talker Alias position, data precision is approximately accurate to 5 decimal places of accuracy (around 1m). So when I get time I need to change the user interface and position storage to use better resolution

Re: New Beta version 2022 11 18
AFAIK this will make anyone using multiple radios not not work anymore, or am I wrong? Like Anytone 878 I've always heard to use "Chinese Radio", GD-77 was also on the "Chinese Radios" list.
Any idea if that will make other radios no longer work (for SMS I assume)

I have multiple Motorolas and I'm fine.kt4lh wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 2:41 pmAFAIK this will make anyone using multiple radios not not work anymore, or am I wrong? Like Anytone 878 I've always heard to use "Chinese Radio", GD-77 was also on the "Chinese Radios" list.

Re: New Beta version 2022 11 18
I worded that terribly, what I meant was pretty sure that most "chinese radios" need "Chinese Radio" set there or SMS doesn't work correctly, so if you use a GD77 and an 878 or other radio, it'd affect one of the radios. I'm not 100% sure but I was thinking that's what the "Brand" selection there does (SMS format, available features, etc)YT5HOK wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 3:14 pmI have multiple Motorolas and I'm fine.kt4lh wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 2:41 pmAFAIK this will make anyone using multiple radios not not work anymore, or am I wrong? Setting radio type to Motorola , or Hytera or ETSI all work fine.
So if you have other radios which send Motorola or Hytera format SMS messages, then you can leave the Brand set as Motorola.
Re: New Beta version 2022 11 18
No worries.
Originally I tested with both the Motorola and Hytera settings, as the ETSI setting did not allow In Call GPS to be enabled.
But BM enabled the In Call GPS option on ETSI for me, becuase all these radio types send the Talker Alias location data in the same format.
I think the Brand setting on BM is more related to SMS based APRS messages, because I'm pretty sure Motorola use their own private data format for SMS APRS messages, and this probably differs from Hytera and other radios.
