I charge my 878 and GD77 in the same base, maybe you cut yours too much? I've only charged the two radios in the same base, with a TP5100 in it, for a year or so since I got the 878.. 878's charger is still in its box.
I might have been too aggressive in my cutting of the notches in the cup. Very possible. It is still usable. I put a tape in front to make the radio stay in place, very ghetto!

I will invest in an aftermarket power supply module to replace the one inside the dock.

Talking about these cheap adapters, the Baofeng RD-5R came w/ a better one than the UV-5R ones, that the AC adapter buzzes loudly!

You can get chargers on Amazon for like $12 in case yours is so problematic it's worth replacing. MD380, Anytone 878, GD77, etc, all same charger base if you can't find a GD77 specific one.

And yep, TP5100 are great, you probably have to buy a 3 or 5 pack of 'em but they're handy to have around :)

Thanks and good to know. a 5 pack isn't a problem for me as I have so many radios, I might as well swap them all out w/ this. (My signature is only listing the DMR radios, lol.)

I only have one charger cup died (the D878 one) so far. But I did notice that the first (forgot if the second) GD-77 that I owned, had the charging cup overcharging the battery above 8.4 V, not by a whole lot, only about 0.05 V or so, but still not the best, which is a known problem. So these radios aren't perfect, and they often miss the small details that the Japanese brands won't.

Hello all, I am considering to sell my GD77 (was never used as I never got my radio license - just updated the software to OpenGD77, and kept in a protective pouch - so is as new) with all original accessories.

I am in the Toronto area if anyone is interested, and would accept any reasonable offer.

Will not list on ebay or similar - want to give it a good new home :)

I could also include a raspberry pi + hotspot: that was never used so cannot guarantee function. The PI works 100%; the hotspot module is brand new but not tried. It SHOULD work, but cannot guarantee

PS: If this post is not allowed please advise and I will promptly delete.

Is it still available?

Yes, the MD-760 is a GD77 with a TYT sticker on it (well, it's the opposite in fact)

Cheers.

We now have Alpha level firmware for the TYT MD-UV380 which is also sold as the Retevis RT-3S

See the thread about installing the firmware onto that radio
