Hotspot with Pi-Star - VHF frequency range

I'd like to operate the Opengd77 Hotspot in connection with Pi-Star at 149 MHz, but I always end up with an error message. Everything is fine up to 148 MHz, but 149 MHz gives an error. What am I doing wrong?

You are operating outside the legal ham radio bands

Hello all,

the frequency range from 149,0 – 149,2 MHz is released and accessible, check:

https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/Shared ... onFile&v=5

Since I’m living near the border, I’d like to place a repeater within that range with the GD77. How can I get the hotspot to work with the desired frequency? The GD77 can access these frequencies, they are not blocked.

It is still illegal. I have consulted my friend from Germany. Please read the document you posted again, everything is clearly written.

Hi YT5HOK,

that’s not quite correct. 446 MHz, 433 MHz, and 149 MHz are free for everyone in Germany. And since 433 MHz (amateur radio) and 446 MHz work fine in the Opengd77, why not 149 MHz as well? Where and how does it say that only 149 MHz is blocked? If that was the case, then 446 MHz should be blocked as well, right?

All those "licence free" frequencies have some rules and limitations, devices used have to be made according to standards.
For example, GD-77 is illegal to use on 446. Devices have to be limited to 500mW and have non-detachable antenna.
But in the end, I understand. Rules are not that strictly enforced and are made to be bent a little. ;)

Hi,

Don't expect any out of Ham band support (did you ever tried any MMDVM hotspot in these 149MHz frequencies? It won't work either).

Cheers.
