[Resolved. PSU problem] DM 1801 stop acting as hotspot

Post by iz5wga » Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:42 am

Hello all,

I've put the DM 1801 in hotspot mode, 2W, and ferrite on the usb cable.
It happens that sometimes it exits out its HS mode and starts acting as standard transceiver.
All I have to do is rebooting pi-star.
Is it a known issue? Is it even an opengd 77 issue or pistar's one? Any advice?

By now the DM1801 doesn't use a battery: it's powered by an 8.4V power supply.

Thanks

Just to give a hint.
It seems that if the plug the battery instead of the external power supply, the problem does not occur.
Should I put some ferrite on the power supply's cable too?
I don't think it's a matter of power outage.

Ok forget it. It was actually a power outage. It seems 1 ampere provided is not enough to transmit at all past 750mw. When the pistar started transmitting from master to RF the radio powercicled. I need to replace the power supply, but at least I know why it didn't work.
See you all folks!

I confirm that using a laptop power supply (19V 5A) with a dc/dc to lower the voltage to 8.4v the problem does not occur.
