Is it possible to edit the satellites.txt file and add in sats that i prefer to chase, like from the amsat.org list of sats?
I would be happy to compile one for myself and share with the community who might be interested.

Absolutely. This link will help you get started:

One thing to note is that the satellites.txt file is overwritten whenever the CPS is upgraded or reinstalled so keep a backup copy of your customized file in a different location.
