ISS on 145.800MHz

Post by SP7BRUH » Fri Apr 07, 2023 9:33 pm

Good morning,
I'm a beginner on satellites. I know that OpenGD77 itself calculates the Doppler effect for the given satellites, but I noticed that there is no ISS on the 145.800MHz frequency listed. At school, we started a radio amateur club and we wanted to buy the first device (TYT MD-9600). In the future we would probably sign up for ARISS, so support for the ISS on 145.800MHz would be useful... Is there any way to add the ISS on 145.800MHz? Or is it unnecessary, and the radio is enough to be set to 145.800MHz and everything will work without problems? Thank you in advance for your answer.
Regards,

I'm not an expert but I think you can add a line to satellites.txt which is in the OpenGD77 CPS directory under "Program Files" (where software is installed, language depending) ,something like this: 25544U,ISS-A,145800000,145200000,0,0

25544U is the "Norad ID" for ISS
ISS-A will be the name you see in Satellites list in the radio
145800000 and 145200000 is downlink and uplink frequencies
0,0 is CTCSS and ArmCTCSS values which I don't think is used here.

I tried it and updated my kepler data via the CPS after the change of satellites.txt and it looks good.

Remember that satellites.txt will be overwritten when CPS version is updated.
