The distinction between the 2 files of the GD77?
In a file there is one of 484kb and the other 488kb....

_JA = Japanese version

If you notice, in one of your links it is 484 and the other 488. Not the regular VS JA version but OpenGD77.bin...

But on the computer, both indicate the same thing. Just to make sure there was no error downloading.

Why exactly are there 2 places where the fw is saved?

I checked the files and they are identical, and in the admin view to the server file system both files report being the same size.

Seems to be a bug in the web server its self, which is outside of my control, as I'm on shared hosting

I could send a support ticket to the hosting company but I doubt they could do anything about it.

In the meantime, I had updated my post stating that they ''seemed'' to be identical once downloaded.

If you confirm that they are identical, then great, I will proceed! I didn't want to risk ''ruining'' my GD77 with an incomplete version...

Why are there just 2 places to download it?

I downloaded both and did a binary file compare and they are identical

When I have time, I've started to try to move things which are not directly related to each new beta, into their own threads.

People often post to the Beta topics about totally unrelated things, e.g. how to setup their codeplug, and this doesn't help anyone who wants to read about the new beta etc

but its very time consuming for me to do this, hence I don't do it everywhere I should do it

I understand, but in this situation, the questioning was directly related to the file to be updated, but you are the commander . I would not have had the reflex to consult here if I would have asked myself the same question in this situation.

But I understand what you are explaining... A forum is made to facilitate the grouping of information and facilitate consultation and research...
