Mobile radio compatibility

Post by gw6rtv » Fri Nov 18, 2022 11:07 am

Is there a mobile radio that you can program using OpenGD77 firmware, if so what recommendations would you give.
Many thanks.

Yes, the TYT MD-9600 (also known as the Retevis RT90) is compatible and all versions are supported.

This radio has several hardware versions, each one needs slightly different firmware. It can be difficult to identify which version hardware you have but no damage will be caused by loading the wrong firmware. Incorrect firmware will initially appear to work but will not receive or transmit.

You can roughly guess which hardware version you have.

Any radio bought in the last 1 or 2 years, is hardware verison 5, which is also know as V4A by TYT.

If the radio was bought when TYT first started selling them, it will probably be Version 2. There are a few V1's around but not that many

in between there were both V3 and V4 hardware, but its hard to know the exact release dates of those versions.
