The 5W++ power settings, designed for limited emergency use, sets the radio to output its maximum power.

There is no way to increase the radio power beyond what it produces when set to this power level, even if you change the calibration data.

Sustained use of the radio at the 5W++ power setting will damage the PA FET.

Is it so dangerous even in the digital mode, where the Tx is operating approximately half of the transmit time ? I understand the FET will toss out in continuous analog mode, but in DMR, the average power will be 4W for 8W of peak power...
