I added an article on my site that details what I did to fix this issue on my Radio and hope it helps someone.

I'll be adding more articles as I go. I literally have 1 day into fixing my radio :)

Thanks for the help here to get me where I did. I hope my info can help the next guy.

Excellent article.

Just one correction. The Com driver exe is just a general purpose serial driver installer, you need to run it via the .bat file as the bat file runs the exe and species the USB VID / PID numbers in the radio. It also specifies the name of the com port which the CPS searches for so that people don't need to manually select the com port of the radio.

The CPS installer tries to install the driver, but I know in some cases this does not work, And people have to manually re-run the driver installer.

I have three radios with the same defect described here, which I would like try to recover, I have read the posts but the related links do not work, if it is possible I would need the correct file and if it is possible some more info. I have a ST-Link V3, can I use it or do I have to buy a Jlink? Thanks

AFIK. ST-Link only works with STM processors, the GD77 etc uses the NXP / Freescale MK22 processor.

Jlink is the most reliable way to reflash the firmware, but other debugger / programmer dongles may work if they support the MK22 processor.

The JLink Edu Mini is the cheapest official JLink, however there are cheaper clones on eBay and AliExpress. The important thing with the MK22 processor is that the debugger / programmer dongle, must have a Reset output pin. Some of the really cheap / small JLink clones don't have that pin.

There are even some designs and firmware on Github to convert a STM32 BluePill board to a mini Jlink, but becuase BluePill boards are no longer cheap and easy to buy, this option would only be useful if you already have a BluePill board

Thanks Roger, now I try to get J-Link, you can also inquire which software to use, I saw that there are different software on the site, which is the right one?

If you are using JLink hardware you must use the JLink software

The version of JLink software you use must match the JLink hardware, specifically if you use a JLink Edu, it has different application software to the full JLink hardware. AFIK the hardware clones are all full JLink and not clones of the Edu version
