I believe mine came with a RGB panel too. All colors that I set on the CPS appear totally different on my radio.
I set the colors directly on the radio, going via options - theme options on the menu and rotating the knob until i got the ones I like. It takes longer, but gets the job done.

Just bought a DM-1701 that works fine, but have the same issues with the screen. I can't seem to change the colors via the theme settings on the radio.

No need, just install the latest stable firmware (released on 2023/12/31), the RGB/BGR screen is handled now.

Thanks. Did that and worked fine once I figured out inverted was set. Duh. It's fun figuring out what all the items are! Well not really.
