The price is the same as before: I bought it and it's working.
So I suppose they are not gaining anything extra: the most important thing is that this prevented me to buy a wrong (i.e. DR 1801 or 1801A second edition) device.
I mean: at least I knew that opengd was working for sure

Yes. As long as there is no commercial gain, then they are not breaking the usage agreement

The radio wouild no longer be FCC certified, so could not be used by anyone execpt Ham radio operators, but this is not our problem, its a problem for whoever buys the radio and uses it for other things

I guess that customers asks the Chinese shops if the radio supports OpenGD77 and maybe also the shops prefer OpenGD77 over the factory firmware.

Someone posted to the forum saying they preferred to buy with OpenGD77 already installed so that they know the radio is definitely compatible and there aren't any problems like with the new DM/DR-1801

Is it possible to restore such a radio from Ali... with the OpenGD77 software loaded by them to the factory software? I ordered two such radios from them, but the original software was supposed to be left in one of them, of course they didn't understand and installed OpenGD in both of them.

Yep, no problem at all to step back to original FW.

Anyway,
I can't see the advantages on doing it further than SMS...
(To be used on HAMRADIO environment as encryption is NOT allowed)

I have no doubt that OpenGD77 is indisputably better than the original. I already have this software in GD77, RD5R and of course DM1701. The purpose of returning to the original software in DM1701 is related to an attempt to repair a model that was damaged when the original software was upgraded. That's why I need a functional DM-1701 with old firmware. I am interested in how to return to the original without any factory backup, because it was not me who changed the software to newer ones, but the seller, and that is the whole problem - how to do it, of course not to damage this functional radio. Then, of course, I'll go back to OpenGD77.

To have the original FW installed, just do install it by using the original Software and FW files...
It should not show any problems to do correctly.
