just gotta say, my dm1701 is terrible on receive, both analog and digital. i have multiple gd77, uv380, uv390, and md9600 all running the opengd firmware. the dm1701 has the worst front end selectivity about the same as uv-5r. the squelch opens and terrible noises come out whenever i'm near a wifi source, or there is any other radio on any frequency nearby including hotspots, 433mhz gadgets, noisy power supplies, etc. i almost always have one of my ht on my person on scan and gave up on carrying the dm1701 cuz it just made too much noise way too often no matter what the squelch setting. also the charger base is only good for the dm. i can use the same charger for the gd77 and uv380 and even my 878 (with clip a little plastic tab off) but the dm charger only fits the dm. the short antenna is rigid plastic no flex at all and terrible SWR on 2m. i would not recommend this radio to anyone except maybe someone i wanted to annoy. the uv380 and uv390 are way better in all aspects for `~$100.
