DM-1701 do not start (or restarting again and again)

Post by PU1RCG » Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:48 pm

Hi folks,
I've found this group seeking too much.
I'm trying to solve this problem, but I can't. I would be very happy if you can ou help me to correct this:

DM-1701 new -> I put CPS from jan 22 with OpenGD77 codeplug -> Thats ok!

Then I tried to put a new color theme, after that the radio do not start, unfortunately.

I turn on the plug -> screen goes "lights on an off" again and again...

No one key works.

Sometimes, I turn off the radio, put to change battery for a long time, after that the radio can be turned on, but clicking any key (anyone), the first situation returns (lights on lights off now and then).

I don't know if you will understand, sorry for m bad english!

* The radio is new, bought from Aliexpre$$ and it worked perfectly before this update.

THANK YOU

Did you update the firmware.

It sounds like you bought a DM-1701 which the vendor installed some old version of OpenGD77 and you didn't update the firmware ??

Last firmware update for the DM-1701 was in December not Jan 22.

The problem is not on the "themes" i've tried to change codeplug and color themes several times.

Radio turns on and off (flashing screen)
I can't turn on,
I can't access menu,
I can't do nothing with the radio.

I think something is wrong at "starting" radio system...

Sorry again and Thank you for your support!

Hi,

Try this:
- re-download fresh copy of the firmware + donor file + CPS,
- install the downloaded CPS,
- flash the newly downloaded firmware (using the new donor file), following the flash procedure: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2380
- create a new codeplug, define 2 channels, 1 zone, add the 2 channels to that zone, nothing fancy, then flash that codeplug.

Tell us if the transceiver works as expected.

Cheers.

Negative!

I put in DFU mode but the box "Select OpenGD77 com port" came and the message:
"No com port. Close and reopen the OpenGD77 window to select a com port."

Nothing changes when I turn off and turn on DM1701 radio.
I tried thousands things, unfortunately "shit happened" with this

DFU does not use COM port

the firmware must be on the Settings Update screen, or later in the firmware for the COM port to created by the firmware

Sorry, What did you mean with "the firmware must be on the Settings Update screen, or later in the firmware for the COM port to created by the firmware, please"?

Where is "Settings Update Screen" in the OpenGD77 CPS software?

Now, I tried to put a new blank codeplug. The same messages...

If DFU mode doesn't use COM ports, why OpenGD77 shows these messages?

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

DFU mode is only used in the OpenGD77 Firmware Loader and the DM-1701 should be started with top button+PTT pressed.
Led flashes green/red.

Normal operations in the OpenGD77 CPS ( loading code plugs, updating satellite data, callsign database loading
use the OpenGD77 COM port driver.
