Latest Release of Firmware/CPS for TYT MD-UV390
Latest Release of Firmware/CPS for TYT MD-UV390
Hello,
a month ago I bought a TYT MD-UV390 radio (Output 5W, IP67, and GPS). So far I'm using the factory firmware and CPS. As this software has room for improvements I'm looking for a software alternative. My understanding of OpenGD77 is that it can be used with my new radio. But I'm not sure about the correct version and download URLs.
Can anybody help?
Thanks and regards

yes
OpenGD77 supports the 5W UV390 GPS

You came to the right place, you will need to download the latest version of the CPS and firmware for your radio. The installation is fairly stright forward since folks have documented the process extensively.
Have fun and ask questions if you need help.

Re: Latest Release of Firmware/CPS for TYT MD-UV390
Thanks for your replies. What I did so far:
1) Red the YouTube video "Install the Alpha of OpenGD77 firmware for the (VERSION 1 - ONL). TYT MD-UV380 / Retevis RT-3S" given by Roger.
2) Downloaded the CPS from here: downloads/PC_CPS/Latest/ It seems to be runnable under Win11
3) Download the firmware from here: downloads/releases/MDUV380_DM1701/R20231231/firmware/
I couldn't find a firmware file with the sub string "UV390" in its name, this is a little confusing for me.
Question: is this the correct way to change firmware and CPS of the MD-UV390?
Thanks,
de DL1HGB (Hans)

UV390 is the UV380 in a waterproof case. There are no electronic differences. Use the UV380/RT3S firmware

Hello,
success, I got the OpenGD77 fw to run on my MD-UV390. Very good software. Thanks to the OoenGD77 team for this.
Just another question: I'm interested in using APRS. With FM I got it to run. Does OpenGD77 also support APRS with DMR?
Thanks,

You can send APRS via talker alias (TA)Dl1hgb wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 4:24 pmHello,

Re: Latest Release of Firmware/CPS for TYT MD-UV390
OK, what I tried so far is defining a TG 262999 and a channel referencing this GPS-TG in its field "contact" (no TG-List). I also set the field "TS1 Talker Alias TX" to APRS.
The Brandmeister APRS configuration is defined and works well with other radios (e.g. Anytone 878UVII+)
Selecting this channel in the MD-UV390 radio and pressing the PTT does not result an entry in APRS.if.

TG 262999 is for message based APRS , which OpenGD77 doesn't support.
TA TX APRS is used on the normal repeater and hotspot channels and is sent as Talker Alias embedded in the "voice frames"
This is from my MMDVMHost log on a Hotspot connected to Brandmeister
