I tried three times to upload different version of firmware. All I get - dark screen, and few morse sound.
There is a report in this other thread that pushing PTT button wakes the screen - does that happen for you as well?

Hi everyone! After the opengd77 firmware, there was no backlight. I created a new codeplug with one dmr channel in memory and the backlight appeared only when ptt was pressed and no longer goes out, when transmitting on the analog channel, the backlight goes out...(

Sounds like the internal I/O pin connections differs between cpu and various bits of the hardware.

Someone that can open it and take some pictures of the board for comparison ?

FYI.

I have now written an announcement post, saying that the UV390 PLUS version is not currently supported.

From the various posts in this thread, it looks like the initial production versions of the UV390 PLUS may have been compatible, but newer versions have differences in the hardware

This is a big problem when a manufacturer keeps the same model name / number etc, but changes the hardware.

We had a similar problem with the Baofeng DM-1801 when the new version was completely different hardware, but used the same case and display.
After a while Baofeng changed the name of this radio to the DR-1801UV but only after about 6 months of people returning the new radio to vendors becuse it was not the same hardware as the old radio and hence not compatible with the OpenGD77 firmware

I have attempted to contact TYT multiple times in the last year, both directly and also via dealers, but TYT are not willing to provide any technical details of their radios, or free samples, or support in any way for OpenGD77

TYT do not reply to my direct emails, and they also eventually stopped replying to their dealers when they asked about OpenGD77 support.

Please will anyone who has the UV380/390 PLUS version, whether it works correctly or not with the OpenGD77 firmware, use the "Backup registers" function in the CPS, and zip the file and then post it here

In the CPS.
Make sure you select the Radio Type as MD-9600/UV380 etc
In the Extras menu item select "OpenGD77 support"
On the OpenGD77 support screen, press the "Backup registers" button.

This will prompt to save the file.

After the file has been saved, zip it and post it here

We need this data for multiple versions of the UV380/390 PLUS radios, both 5W and 10W to try to understand the manufacturer settuings which may be affecting the display operation on the 10W version of the UV380/390
