Help needed with opengd77 pi-star

Post by M7FEP » Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:42 pm

Well I have installed opengd77 on my baofeng DM 1701 and pi Star on my raspberry pi which has the hotspot hat on top, I have tried to get it to connect but I really don't know what I'm doing ! Is there a step by step out there that I can follow ? How does the radio control the hot spot ? I've reset everything to factory so I can start again.
Thank you

In the Options -> General Options, set Hotspot to "MMDVM".
Connect your transceiver to the Pi, and in the Pi-Star, select OpenGD77 as mode.
See the user manual https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... tspot-mode

M7FEP, are you trying to use your OpenGD77 equipped Baofeng as a radio/modem connected via USB to your pi-star hotspot? Or are you merely trying to configure the Baofeng to use with your pi-star hotspot in the conventional fashion? You say the pi has a hotspot hat, so presumably it's the latter.

I agree

I think M7FEP is simply asking how to use his PiStar based hotspot, because he says
which has the hotspot hat on top
The best place to ask how to setup and use a PiStar based hotspot i.e MMDVM_HS is the PiStar website

http://www.pistar.uk/

and the PiStar forum on the same website

https://forum.pistar.uk/

I also checked if M8FEP has a DMR ID registed and it looks like he has just done that

However I don't know if he is asking how to configure the radio to enter his DMR ID, or how to make a channel or use the VFO to access his hotspot.

He may not have configured his hotspot at all to select the modem board type, his user ID, what sever to connect, and he may not have done the frequency calibration on the hotspot either

All of which are questions for the PiStar forum

Friends, after manipulating the firmware, the radio stopped working for transmission. In analogue, the carrier frequency is transmitted without sound.

What has this to do with pistar?
