Retevis RT3S

Can the RT3S be updated to the OpenGD77 firmware. If so how?
I tried the install instructions in the FAQ but that did not work.

Did you follow these instructions? viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2380

Specifically, I followed along this youtube video when I upgraded mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65SEEGfYz4M

What part do you get stuck at?

Finally after 3 attempts I have upgraded to OpenGD77. But after uploading a code plug I found on this site I get no audio from the speaker. Also, even though the RT3S was sold to me as a GPS model I cannot get the GPS going. Menu says “GPS off”. I had not tried to use the GPS on the radio before today so I don’t know whether it worked before.
A bit disappointed after the effort to upgrade.

GPS Off means the GPS is functional, you just need to turn it on in the menu.
GPS is not automatically turned on by default by the firmware because it takes quite a lot of current

Codeplugs that people post here are their own work, there is no guarantee they are correct or even work correctly.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the menu and tried to turn GPS on with no luck, must be missing something (old age for you).

Just been looking at videos on how to write code plugs so will have a go at making my own.

In the Options -> General Options.
Or within the GPS menu, SK2 + GREEN.

This video helped me write my first code plug recently, so I could talk to my local repeater: https://youtu.be/Dj3MH9JTJfk?si=SuaJeC5K75IRJges
