My TYT MD-UV380 GPS arrived today, I checked the date, 2022/06/03, after installing the donor FW, it gave a black screen, I finished with the CPS, everything ok, now it's an OpenMDUV380 in activities

Did this occur after power cycling the radio after the firmware update finished or just that the radio did not reboot after the firmware upload finished

With the official firmware loader (which we do not use because it uses a different file format), the radio is not rebooted after the firmware is loaded.

I don't know why the official loader does not reboot the radio when the upload is complete, but possibly you mean the CPS did not manage to reboot the radio after the upload finished, which may indicate a change in the bootloader in the radio

it really could be that, but the important thing is that it worked, as soon as possible I will buy a socket for testing and programming in original and new chips, I will get in touch with you... thank you for your attention

I just received a UV380 from here :
https://www.ebay.com/itm/264446265553
it's the GPS version, and works perfect;y with OpendGD77.
S/N: 2205L01293
It might be old stock since it came from NY.

Yes, 2205 in the serial number indicates that it's produced before they started to use the Chinese clone.

I bought my radio in Retevis Offical Store in Aliexpress. It was produced in December/2022 and don't accept the opengd firmware. But OpenRTX works fine on it.

I'm gonna buy another of this radios in case the newer ones never get supported. Does anyone know if this problem is present too with the MD-UV390 (not 380) GPS version? I suppose it is, as internally they are the same radio, but I hope they are using older stock for the 390. I just asked the seller for the serial number and production date before buying it.

I'm gonna try to get a working one, but if I get a radio with the clone chip and I can't return it, I'll just attach my JLink and help out solving the issue, hoping it's an easy one. For me it's useless anyway without the custom firmware.

Yes, a colleague got such an instance of UV390. Released in December 2022.
