Restoring the flash is not always necessary. I have reverted to the factory firmware several times during testing without ever restoring the flash.
You may however find the radio behaves strangely at first, asking for a password.
This can be overcome by forcing the factory CPS to ignore the password. This is done by changing a line in the CPS settings.ini file from 'password=0' to 'password=password'
The CPS will then allow you to reload a codeplug, either your own or a blank one. This should fix the password issue and the radio should then behave normally.

Restore RT3S - Factory Flash and Firmware
Re: Restore RT3S - Factory Flash and Firmware
Maybe it's possible to use a flash file from some other RT3S ?
The main goal seems to restore the data structure in the original flash so that factory firmware will be happy ?
