I have two Retevis RT3s. One with and one without GPS.
Can you use it to convert both devices (with/without GPS)?

For the mod I made, yes, these are the correct instructions.
I just made one change, I replaced the backup battery with a slightly larger one with more autonomy.
With this mod, I am 100% satisfied.
However, there are other mods, also interesting, posted by some colleagues

I have 2 radio stations: RT3S with GPS and 380UV without GPS. In RT3S I replaced the antenna, the amplifier, replaced the module with ATGM336H-5N-71. There are no special changes in the speed of satellite detection. It works very slowly. Finds up to about 9 satellites. In 380UV I put an external module with an active antenna. Satellites are detected in a minute. Shows more than 20 satellites. In both cases, the antenna is on the side. Something is wrong in the circuit diagram of models with GPS.

Is there a difference in the circuit board layout of the RTS3 with/without GPS or does the GPS modification work the same way on both radios?

Yes

As I explain in the tutorial, it is important to remove as much plastic as possible. Before a hole is left open. The antenna and module must be as low as possible.
