I have compared the accuracy of the AGTM336 and the GP-02 GPS modules and the GP-02 seemed to be slightly more accurate

The official GPS was branded JumpStar , but we do not know what brand or model of GOS is fitted to the newer radios.

The JukpSar module is worse than the AGTM336 or GP-02

Finally my kit. It arrived, I made that cutout in the housing to house the GPS antenna, but the back of it has that metal shield and I can't close the radio because of it, is there any risk of reducing sensitivity or causing interference if I remove it? the shield?

I want to note that when installing a GPS kit, there is no need to make a cutout in the housing to accommodate a GPS antenna. The sensitivity is sufficient to place the antenna in a regular place. I also removed the antenna connector from the board and shortened the coaxial cable. The cable was soldered directly. The board is placed to the right of the speaker. Do not place the antenna close to the socket, so as not to break the inductance during assembly. I sawed off the antenna mounting pad on the board.

This is the active antenna ?, I presume it has power feed via the coax ?

Does the radios with factory installed GPS also have an active antenna or do you need to add some power feed if you replace the original antenna ?

There was no GPS installed in my radio station. I installed a kit with an active antenna.

I installed the antenna at the top but I had removed little plastic and when it was time to close the radio I broke the porcelain of the antenna, I only noticed because the reception was very bad in the open, I disassembled everything again glued the porcelain of the antenna with super glue and redid the metal part with tin, I removed more plastic, I mounted everything, now it finds satellite even inside the house.

Finally!
New GPS antenna installed. Excellent results!
28db antenna, installed on top of the radio.
When activating the gps, in one minute the gps starts to receive the satellites.
Amazing, I wasn't expecting it. Indoors, he obtained 9 satellites. (And with the exact location of my house)
It took a lot of work but I'm happy with the result.

It's amazing. I want to alert friends that the antenna is active. This dear RT3S uses a passive gps antenna. But no problem, to make the work easier, I advise you to remove the pcb components and then connect the small coax directly to the (positive) of the antenna and of course not forgetting the ground.

I bought an RT3S 2 weeks ago on Amazon. Same Jumpstar gps chip as the earlier versions.

Nice thread on improving the GPS signal reception.

I pulled apart a AT878UV that I had and the GPS antenna is mounted at the top of the radio pointing up. Same adhesive holding it in place. There is a better connection to the ground side on the AT878 that pushes/cuts into the adhesive backing.
