ALPHA 2022-10-03-01

Post by VK3KYY » Mon Oct 03, 2022 4:13 am

A new Alpha version is now available

downloads/MDUV380/Firmware/745233bd3320 ... 72437be456

The following things should be fixed

* DMR Rx dropout
* DTMF transmit from contacts list

This version also has better power saving on Eco modes greater than 1.

Note.
The changes to the power saving have an effect on when the USB can be connected to the radio.
Please turn off the radio before connecting the USB cable. The turn the radio on again, and the USB and CPS should work OK.

BTW.

I've noticed the USB hardware on these radios seems to suffer from RFI pickup on the USB cable.
For example, if I turn on a flourescent lamp in my shack, I hear my PC beep to indicate a USB device has disconnected and then reconnected.

This was happening even before the power saving changes, so I think the USB hardware in these radio seems to be less robust than in the GD77, or the MD9600

Hello.
During the operation of the new version, I noticed very rare decoding failures and modulation failures. This happened with a long monologue and, possibly, loud modulation from the interlocutor.

Decoding failures are quite common on DMR, it is not necessarily a problem with the firmware.

This is not a global DMR failure. At the control station (Anytone D878UV), reception was not interrupted, on rt3s, at the moment of sound loss, the LED showed the presence of reception, S-metr showed a high level of the received signal. Such errors have become much rarer, but they are there.

Comparisons of the radio to other DMR radios is not valid.

The Anytone radios do not use the same hardware, and have much bettery noise immunity.

DMR decode failure does not necessarilty mean a problem with the firmware.
