A new Alpha version is available

https://opengd77.com/downloads/MDUV380/ ... 416608b4e2

This includes

* Changes to DTMF FM Tx.
NOte. Audio tones of the DTMF to the speaker has been disabled, to fix this problem.

* Fix for GPS on newer radios

GPS power is enabled when you goto the GPS page of the Radio Info screen. But the power is not turned off when leaving this screen.
So at the moment to turn off the GPS power, you need to turn the radio off and on again after viewing the GPS page.

This is just temporary functionality, becuase in the long term, the GPS functionaliy will be moved to a separate menu screen and there will be a setting in General Opions to enable / disable GPS power

The GPS in these radio is not sensitive. It will normally not work when indoors, and even outdoors it can take 5 minutes before the GPS has obtained a fix.

If you go to the GPS screen, and the radio constantly says "No GPS data" your radio does not have a GPS module, or the module is faulty.
Normally if you have a GPS version of the radio, the GPS screen will show the text "Acquiring" after about 1 second, to indicate the firmware is receiving data from the GPS module.

* Fix for VFO Scan.
Long Press Up arrow to enter scan mode
Long Press Down arrow to exit scan mode

* Fixes for VFO Sweep Scan
Gain is controlled by the rotary controller knob on the top of the radio
Up and Down arrows change the center frequency. Note Up and Down arrow direction of change is probably the opposite to the way it should be, however this will be fixed when we change the operation of the Up and Down buttons on all menus
SK2 + Up / Down changes sweep bandwith

Note. The VFO Sweep Scan UI functionality is not fully working yet

Update

In addition to the fixes listed above.

This version now fixes the DMR Tx bug when the radio has been idle and is in power saving mode when the PTT is pressed.

Is the firmware update a matter of pointing to the new .bin file in the GD77 CPS "extra" menu and loading, or are there other required steps?

Thanks, this is excellent stuff.

Yes, If you already have an MDUV380 running the firmware you just need to put the radio into firmware update mode and upload the .bin file using the Extras Menu.

You need also need official bin for the MD9600 which provides the AMBE codec.
For legal reasons, we can't include the AMBE codec in the binary,

See the detailed instrallatin instructions

Sorry, I don't understand what you are saying.

The colour code scan works as it should on the VFO screen.

Thank you very much, I'm new to GD77 and to the forum too, I would never have imagined it, learning little by little.
When an update is made, is it necessary to import the csv contacts again or not?
Contacts and channels will be erased.

Hi,

When updating the firmware, the codeplug, dmrid database and keplerian elements aren't touched.

Cheers.

As I understand it, jamaxsantos is going to replace the factory firmware with OPENGD77
