Thanks for that firmware! It is already impressive!
Like all the other openGD77 radios, it makes a good device out of a crappy electronic piece.
Anyway, is there a UI-Layout somewhere?
I am actually looking to activate the promiscious mode and can't find the right "knob". :)

Quick note here as I just installed today's Alpha version for the first time: During Flash backup the progress bar went on up until a few milimenters before the end.
USB com's seem to have a problem with large transfers.
This can happen both when backing up the Flash and also when trying to write the entire DMR ID database at maximum record length.

The CPS seems to be reporting that the USB port has been closed, which I presume is because there was a glitch somewhere

I may change the Flash backup, so it only backs up the first 3 or 4Mb of this radio, rather than the entire 16Mb, becuase its only the lower few Mb which have data related to the radio PIN / password, which get overwritten by the GD77 codeplug data.

Anyone monitoring this thread.

I've created a separate bugs list thread. Please read it, as there is a bug in DMR mode when radio in in power saving i.e Eco mode and no signal.

"* If radio is in power saving. DMR Tx needs 2 x press of the PTT. First press just seems to exit power saving the next press causes transmission.
This problem does not exist on FM, its DMR only"
- On ECO-1, the transmission is not blocked in the dmr after a long wait. Checked.

Probably the bocking happens depending on the internal phase of eco mode when you press the PTT.
All power saving, including in the official firmware, enables and disables the Rx chip. So probably if PTT is pressed when the Rx chip if sleeping then it won't transmit.
The problem may occur both on DMR and FM but I only saw it on DMR.

Also the different Eco modes change multiple perameters with the sleep / wake cycle etc etc

Hello Roger,

I lost my GD77 and search for a new one for long time but is no longer available.
Now I read and see video that you will support RT3S, this is a great news.
I will buy an RT3S soon as OPENGD77 make any DMR Radio second to none for HAM RADIO use.
My question is the software will support either GPS and NO GPS version ?
Which one did you sugget to buy ?

GPS location display will be in the next Alpha version

However, the GPS module in this radio is the worst GPS module I've ever seen.

The sensitivity is terrible, and it seems to need to be able to receive from lots of satellites before it gets a fix.

The minimum number of satellites needed, seems to be 7, even for a 2D fix, and in theory a 2D fix is possible with 3 or perhaps 4 satellites.

look for MD380tool and MD380toolz, something along that line.
Thanks for the suggestion David.
Yes, I know MD380tool, MD380Toolz and so on, but the RT3 is not mine and who owns it does not like them.
If the RT3 were mine, surely I would have done an attempt with those.
Thanks again.
