Thanks for the confirmation about the MDUV390. We thought it should work but you are the first to confirm that it does.
When displaying the GPS position you can transfer it to the radio's position page by pressing SK2 plus the up arrow key. This will set the radio's position and time for the satellite mode.

Part of the problem with the GPS is that TYT did not fit a backup battery to the GPS module. So it has to do a cold start every time it is turned on.

(it takes a looooong time to get a GPS fix, but I’ve read in the forum that this is a hardware problem… thanks TYT  in fact with the stock firmware I didn’t get any GPS signal at all).
The GPS sensitivity is also very bad.

Even in you wait for a fix with the GPS outside, when you take the radio indoors the GPS no longer has enough signals to function.

I’ve also noticed that if I select a screen timeout, only the backlight turns off (the actual screen remains displaying whatever it was displaying). This was useful in the GD77, etc. as you could read the display with no backlight at all, but it might not be necessary in this radio (I could only read the display by pointing a flashlight to it, not even in the sun). Maybe completely turning off the display when it times out saves more battery?

Thanks for the help with the GPS.

Possibly.

However the process to turn off the display and then turn it on again, is not simple.

We do not know the exact model of display controller in these radios. Closest is probably

https://www.crystalfontz.com/controller ... 8353-E/93/

See sections

7.6.2 Power levels definition

which describe the various power modes and the process to enter and exist these modes

There are many other things which need to be programmed or this radio before any investigation can start into power saving by using low power modes of the display

Thanks to the developers for the firmware
I work with radio mostly in simpex and I'm new to OpenGD77. When I call, I see only the contact id, which is registered in the radio settings or in the channel settings. Is it possible to make it so that the name written in the contacts is displayed?

I read the manual, but I have another question
For example
there are 2 radios, in the settings ID 100 and 200
in the contacts of radio 100 there is a group - local (group call) and contact local2 (private call). When calling from radio 200, I only see id:200, not local2.
Is it possible to display the name from contacts?
Change the lookup order to search comtants first

Very nice, ordered a RT-3S from Retevis, hope that they doesn't changed the hardware.
The OpenGD77 software gives a new dimension to the radios.
My RT3S is about 2 years old, but I don't think the hardware has changed.

I think TYT / Retevis, can continue to make these radios, because the supply shortage that stopped the GD77 is the CPU, and the RT-3S / UV380 uses a different CPU which is currently available.

TYT also continues to make the MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90, and this uses the same CPU as the RT-3S / UV380
Received the RT3S some days ago and installed it with the latest alpha version, worked fine and it's very convenient to be able to use the same CPS and codeplug as I have for the MD-9600 :D

With firmware 14:59:25 Oct 3 2022 for Open MDVU 380, RT3S shows good reception and transmission quality.
On some occasions the green led is on but without audio, when moving the channel selector on the top of the HT, the audio normalizes.
The QSO TG is the only one programmed for static.

I can confirm Gustavo's observation: My RT3S (latest Alpha, Oct 3) was standby via hotspot on a few low freqented TGs (no filters, CC = 1, no scan, ECO level = 5). After a few ours (battery at ~55%) I recognized the green LED showing a longer signal but no audio coming through (no dropouts, the audio did not start at all, only LED signaling, display didn't activate despite being set to "auto"). A quick glimpse onto the hotspot confirmed on a valid signal. A quick channel change (rotary knob) brought the audio/sync back (no other channels being defined in this zone). Overall scenario happend at least twice in last few days. I initially ran the device on ECO 3 or 4 from Oct 3 onwards without noticing this "mute effect". Initial idea was that "ECO 5" is putting the device in a state that it won't "unmute" from. Sometimes. Will go back to "ECO 3" to verify...

The recent changes in Eco modes appears to have triggered a know bug in some HRC6000 DMR Chips.
Some more testing shows that it can happen at any ECO level.

It can be reproduced in simplex mode. Set Eco 5. Wait 30 seconds so that the full eco power saving has started. Transmit with a second handheld, speaking quietly. If your chip has the bug the audio will probably be missing. Speak loudly and the audio will start again.

I think I have a fix for this. If it is successful it will be included in the next release.
