I have created and experimental version which has Eco modes enabled

If you are feeling adventurous try this version

downloads/MDUV380/Firmware/43d669cfcfef ... 5f5dd8f45/

Also, to prolong the battery life, set the backlight timeout, so that the backlight goes off, because the backlight consumes about 40% of the total power when the radio is in Eco mode.
Installed. I put ECO 3. So far nothing bad has happened. The battery charge decreases much more slowly.

Some other people are also testing, and did not report any problems, so I think I'll copy this version into the Firmware/Latest folder

I put eco 5 so far works fine.
Just a thing is it possible to have a blinking led when in scan mode ?!! cause if screen is standby mode we can know it is scanning.
Thanks a lot keep the nice work

I guess we could turn on both Red and Green LEDs at the same time to flash yellow.

But normally Green indicates there is a signal, and Red indicates Tx, so seeing either of those colours would not be possible.

I observe rare winking of the green LED in the dmr mode. There is nothing in the hotspot log. This is even before the latest experimental version. A friend has the same. There was no such thing on the factory firmware under the same conditions. Why?

Green LED indicates signal, not only DMR signal, when in DMR mode

Becuase its totally different from the official firmware.

ECO: The radio station does not transmit unless it is "woken up" beforehand. That is, when you press PTT with the screen turned off, everything looks as if there is a transmission, but the hotspot does not receive a signal.

PS
It's not about the burning screen. After 10-12 seconds, the station will not transmit when the PTT is pressed, unless you wake it up.

PS PS
Similar to ECO-1, the transmission is not blocked after a long wait

One hiccup though, during the Flash Memory backup, it didn't complete and the CPS was hanged (I had to use Task Manager to end task), as I waited more than 15 mins, and th RT3s already reverted back to the normal screen (BTW, I didn't get the 1.666 MHz display, mine was 0.00000).
Quick note here as I just installed today's Alpha version for the first time: During Flash backup the progress bar went on up until a few milimenters before the end. Then it stalled and TRX reverted back to the normal screen. After some additional minutes I was already tempted to also kill the process to restart the whole procedure. Yet by incident I figured out that the save menu was called up in the background (under a few other windows, needed multiple clicks to see it somehow!). So be sure to review your overall desktop before killing the process ;)

Let's assume this only happens in certain constellations (I just backuped the Flash again AFTER I had installed one of my OpenGD-CodePlugs - and this time the save window appeared in the foreground as expected).

Cheers

What Colin, Daniel, Roger et al. declare as "Alpha" would probably be a "release" in other projects ;)

Backup, upload, initial setup etc. - all simple and well documented! There's even a complete 20 min. video...

Works like a charme so far. Takes a little time to get used to the rotary knob navigation (being used to 2xOpenRD5Rs, 2xOpenGD77s, and an OpenDM1801). Yet it all makes perfect sense!

Thanks to all contributors - it's really great to see this project is now extending to these (still available) TRX models. And it clearly increases usability and value of these devices tremendously!

Cheers

The battery is noticeably cooler running on eco 1, and the battery voltage isn't dropping as fast. Everything seems to be working fine. Will test other levels throughout the day.

Thank you for adding this so soon.
