Only issue I've found so far is the LED already noted for update. Otherwise working great so far. Thanks to all for this wonderful development and your hard work. This totally transforms the radio.

With the eco modes on the OpenGD77 and using my TYT MD-UV380 with no eco modes you really notice the difference in battery life. Are eco modes possible with this hardware?
The power saving functionality in the OpenGD77 is actually very complex, and reduces the current consumption to about 25% less than the official firmware.

However because of the complexity, the functionality could not simply be compiled and would work on the hardware in this radio.

Power saving is on the To Do list.

An update on the current consumption

The Official firmware consumes 150mA with screen on and not power saving
When in power saving , with the screen on, the offial firmware seems to consume pulses of 100mA and 150mA, so average is probably 125mA

The OpenUV380 consumes about 205mA with the screen at 100%

At the moment I do not know why the OpenUV380 consumes about 50mA more than the official firmware.
Possibly it is because my radio has a GPS, and the GPS may not be enabled in the official firmware, but I don't know how much current the GPS module would consume.

I have started to work on Eco modes, but at the moment if I enable Eco, the Rx stops working.

This is great news!

Does the satellite part work OK? Have you actually made a satellite contact with it?

I was going to get a GD77 for satellite work, but they are all sold out.

Thanks. It works great.

Spectrum sweep scan:
How to manage levels?

Decrease / Increase virtual noise floor

The levels cannot currently be adjusted in spectrum sweep scan.
This will be fixed in a future release.

Hi. Great work!

Will this work on the MD-UV390? I heard it is the same radio but in a different case.
I'm thinking about buying a MD-UV390 and it would be nice if in the future I could install this firmware on it, do you know if this radio had any hardware versions that would break compatibility (like the new DM-1801 that doesn't work with custom firmware)?

Thanks in advance for any info

We do not have any information about the UV390. If the hardware is 100% indentical it would work.

Great work! TKS for ALL!
FYI.

The biggest problem is current consumption, of over 200mA when the official firmware consumes between 100mA and 150mA

I am investigating this problem, but I don't know whats causing the additional current usage at the moment

Google "difference MD-UV380 MD-UV-390" => https://www.miklor.com/COM/Review_UV380.php

'The radio reviewed below is the UV380.
The UV390 is the same radio with a waterproof case. Both are available with and without the GPS option.'
