Depends,

You could just reconnect the flatflex on both sides, and check if it works.
Next, you could check the key lines (you could get help from this document made by Colin G4EML: https://github.com/g4eml/OpenMD9600_Rem ... ematic.pdf),
using an oscilloscope, or at least a decent multimeter.

Looks like I need a new cable

Any idea where I can get one from?

Diving further it is a new display that is needed. Same issue. Where do I get one?

The flex was under a bit of tension and the radio lives in a 4x4.

I think the jarring of the vehicle has cause the flex to tear (or I was too rough with it)

Agree. Thats not the ribbon cable that carries the keypad or front panel button signals

Bruce has already fixed the button issue, he is now talking about a display issue.

Unfortunately the display module will be hard to find. TYT themselves may be the only place you can get one. I have heard of them sending spare displays to people via their Facebook account, but I don't know what their official policy is.

Your only other option is to try to repair the broken cable by getting it into a position where it is working and then applying glue to secure it.

It may not be of much use to you but I have found a UK company that claims to have replacement screens.

Thanks Colin.

I found that outfit and nearly pushed the button on getting one but just waiting on contact from the supplier of the radio here in NZ.

I am pretty sure the button issue was the wider flat cable contacts but it seems that in cleaning all the ribbon cable contact faces I have damaged the display one.

Hopefully I can source a display soon and get the radio working again.

Thanks everyone

OK. New display arrived and fitted and still had an issue. Like a key of a keybd was stuck or a jammed button on a remote. OH WAIT!!! I recall seeing the power button disk slightly offset. FFS that was it.
