MD-9600 Hotspot Mode / ghetto repeater

Will will hotspot mode work on the MD9600 with the USB cable? Or does it need to have audio i/o?

I have a pinout for the hand mic, I've also been thinking of a way to set up my MD-9600 as the Tx of a makeshift repeater using one of these:


The idea would be I would need to breakout a connector from the hand mic to a F k-type head for PTT, Ground, and Audio IN, or perhaps skip the hand mic altogether and build a K-type Female to cat6 wire with the appropriate pinout.

You just need the mini-USB cable to make it work with MMDVM, Pi-Star, BlueDV.
