Display flip when keying
Display flip when keying
If this has already been discussed I apologized. I flipped thru the RT-90 forum and did not find it.
Brand New Retevis RT-90
Board Firmware silkscreen is 4A
OpenGD Bin: MD9600_firmware_V4HW.bin
Donor File: MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin
Using the included IP54 mic when I key up and release the display goes from reading Left to Right to Right to Left. It's basically mirrored on the horizontal. Successive keying lead to it jumping between Zones and Other menu features. This is all from just pushing the PTT. It also is not transmitting when I PTT. Not sure where to go from here. Anyone else seeing this issue? I have OpenGD77 running on several HT's and was hoping to be able to run on this mobile as well. Really hoping to not have to go back to stock firmware.

Re: Display flip when keying
V5HW "appears" to have resolved it I'll follow up after further testing
Re: Display flip when keying
Yep, 4A is a v5 hardware.
Re: Display flip when keying
Issue has returned. Not sure what to try next
Re: Display flip when keying
Remove and reseat both ends of the ribbon cable between the radio and the display. These are known to go intermittent sometimes.
Also make sure your antenna is well away from the radio, RF feedback can do strange things.
Make sure your power supply is man enough, the radio can take up to 10 Amps on transmit.

Mic end of the cable doesn't remove. Radio side reseated to radio. Antenna is 9 +/- ft from radio and I'm driving it with a 30A Meanwell.
Re: Display flip when keying
Seems this maybe the devil dancing in your radio.
Recently I had strange display issue and other random behavior on a MD-9600. Long story short, RF interference / feedback when I went to TX. Put ferrite chokes on the coax just before the PL-259 that goes on the radio. Problems / strange issues gone.
Not exactly sure why the MD-9600 is affected by QRM getting in the radio in these ways, but once the chokes where in place everything is stable.
Final note, went to put a MD-9600 in new 2023 Subaru. There are 33 different computers in that car, and all the lighting seems to be LED based. The MD-9600 is extremely unstable unless I have serious RF choking on the coax. There is a LOT of QRM in that car.
