New Beta version 2023 02 25

Post by VK3KYY » Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:43 pm

A new beta version is now available, which may work with the new radios which use a non-genuine CPU chip
However, because I do not have one of these new radios, I have been unable to test the fix.

As well as the changes to support the new CPU, there is also a change to the Firmware Info screen.
The Build date time is now shown in YYYYMMDDhhmmss format
The CPU type is shown as "CPU:STM" for the genuine STM32F405 CPU and "CPU:TYT" for the new unbranded / unmarked chip that TYT are using

Thanks to Colin G4EML for his work resolving the problem with the new CPU, as well as all the testers

As usual JA_ versions are for Japanese character support

No.

Its on my ToDo list, but getting the firmware working with the new CPU has been my highest priority over the last month

I have been informed by a TYT dealer in the USA, that TYT stopped producing the MD-9600 / RT-90 with the genuine STM32F405VTG at the end of 2022

installed and working perfectly, the only thing I had to do was reset both radios, both the uv380 and the md9600, after the reset the CPS detected the normal com port... once again thank you very much...

New beta works fine on the V5 9600 with GPS I bought a couple of weeks ago. Serial number is 2010A018xx if that helps identify new vs old chips. Mine reports the STM CPU. Also works great as a hotspot.

AFIK. TYT changed to the new CPU in the MD9600 at the end of 2022, however there will be many radios still in their warehouse so people will continue to receive radios with the genuine STM32F405VTG chip for a while longer

I just received the MD-9600 I ordered on Aliexpress in early Feb. I opened it up and I couldn't see any markings on the chip which is supposed to be the CPU, w/ different lighting I put on the package surface.

I have loaded up the latest CPS and firmware dated Feb 28 and I selected V5, and it loaded up fine. I haven't tested the functionality of the radio yet, but the firmware booted up ok.

The PCB shows M1-V4A marking, and the serial number is 2209A003xx .

It was (trans?)shipped from Singapore, don't think that it matters.

Will put it to some test later.

Many thanks to Roger, Colin etc as always for this new fix!
Thanks

That proves the fix developed for the UV380/RT3S also works on the MD9600
