Problem: Backup flash

Post by SA0BUX » Tue Jul 05, 2022 9:01 am

Converted my radio from RT-90 firmware to OpenGD77 but I am stuck at the step saying that I should save the original Flash:

"You should now backup the Flash memory in your MD9600 and save that file in a safe location
This is very important, because the official firmware will not run again on the radio unless you restore the Flash memory before reverting back to the official firmware."

If I select read in the OpenGD77 CPS I get a pop-up window "Codeplug update warning, Your codeplug uses 16 channel zones....."

Only way forward is to click OK but then I'm back to the main CPS screen.

Is there some other way to read the flash ?

As I understand it I need this file to revert it back to original TYT/Retevis firmware ?

You backup the flash using the ‘OpenGD77 Support’ page under the ‘Extras’ menu.

Thanks, found it, thought it was some link towards the forum so I never tried it.

Took some time to backup it and file size is 16384 kB , I hope that's normal.

Yes. This is normal.

The USB transfer speed via COM port is not fast.
