Yes. Its V2 hardware

When you say the firmware does not work. Please explain what does not work if you install the V2 firmware version

Heya, nice work wonderfull! have this working, done also youtube video but anyways there is one issue,

The speaker is doing buzz sound, it will get a lot louder when put screen brightness to lower setting, it is related to screen backlight power switch, as I turn off background light the sound will go away. On screen background light setting 1-10% is loudest and 100% it still can be heard.
It get most noticeable when turning volume all down to min. and there is traffic or squelch full open. Also using external speaker will do the same.
Hardware version is V2.06 and firmware used 2. radio is not GPS version.

yeah same. we wait until more information will be gathered. use external speaker and light at 100% the buzz is a bit less with that.

This may be the reason why the original firmware did not have dimming.
Colin G4EML.
Original firmware has dim settings 1,2 and 3. and they work fine.

Probably they use a different frequency of PWM

If higher frequencies are used, only a few steps seemed to work.

i.e values below 20% would not work.

Possibly we can change the PWM frequency for 100% to 25% so the tone is not audible.

But for values below 25% its not possible to have high PWM freq, becuase there is too much capacitance on the ribbon cable to the display etc, which causes strange things to happen.

My radio has been in the cupboard for the last two years so I haven’t kept up with the official firmware and didn’t notice the dimming had been added.

We could probably do the same three or four preset levels at a higher frequency. Maybe giving up the idea of supporting 0-100%.

Note.

All usernames should be the operator's callsign

Where practical I will be changing usernames to callsigns or all operators
