EDIT: 9th April 22
Received a v5 this time, speaker pop is still there but installed opengd77 and enabled click suppression and its much less noticeable.

how much does the speaker click suppression setting reduce the problem, ordered a rt90 last weekend but sent it back to amazon as the pop was very annoying, from the serial number it was a v4 which shouldn't have had the problem.
i didn't realize at the time opengd77 had a port for it but it kinda put me off buying another to try it.
The click is clearly audible but less harsh.

There are hardware modifications which have roughly the same effect.

Neither the hardware or software fix completely removed this click
I applied Colin G4EML's hardware mod to fix the speaker pop. My radio was v5 and the mod totally removed the pop.

Hi,

Yes as RT-90 are MD9600 clones, but you need to remove the top cover to check the revision printed on the PCB to be sure which firmware version to install.

Cheers.

Hi,

Can you confirm that your radio is in firmware update mode?

From viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2035
"by holding the orange and P1 buttons when applying power to the radio. The display backlight will flash and the display will be blank"

Regards Mike

hi all

i am doing orange + P1 update mode
start MD9600_FirmwareLoader.exe
select MD9600-CSV(2571V5)-V26.45.bin
select MD9600_firmware_V2HW.bin

Image

Why might this problem be caused?

mainboard

Image

Is there something I can modify on the main board?

Your version of Windows probably didn't automatically install the STM DFU (Device firmware update) driver.

Put the radio into update mode and check the radio appears as a STM DFU device, and if not you'll need to install the STM DFU driver
