I would like to ask if the 9600 supports dual defense after flashing openGD77 and plans to use it as a base station. :D

No idea what "Dual defense" is

If you mean Dual Watch... NO... this has been discussed multiple times before. See the other threads

Hi all,

After using the MD-9600 for several years, I thought it would be a nice idea to also try the OpenGD77 firmware.

I have a unit with mainboard that reads V2.1.
Unfortunately, after flashing the firmware, I have no audio?

Transmit is fine, no problem there.

I also tried going back to the original firmware (I made all the necessary backups), using the factory firmware loader but still, no RX audio.

Anyone got an idea what might have happened or how to remedy this issue?

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like a hardware failure.

Bad external speaker jack, try with an external speaker. This is a known failure point.
Broken speaker cable or connector.
Bad connection on front panel ribbon cable.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the prompt response !
I meanwhile found out that it is indeed a hardware failure. You're 100% correct.

When I plug in an external speaker, the audio is clear. No problem.
So most likely this is because of an open contact in the 3.5mm socket when nothing is plugged in.

As I've used this unit in my car for several years, with an external speaker, it looks like the spring contact inside the socket is no longer working properly.

Hello! Just finished putting OpenGD77 on my MD-9600. Works awesome! I'm just wondering if I missed a document that explains what all the mic keypad buttins do so I don't have to guess?!

For instance I was in Radio Options and wanted to change Band limit to OFF. I found "B" and "C" would scroll the options but it took me hitting alot of Buttons til I found out the Band/ESC button on the base saved it!

So I've looked through this whole thread all 11 pages and didn't see what all the buttons do. Is there such a document or is it all trial and error til I figure it out on my own lol!

Also my friend gave me his code plug .g77 file. Unless it was a fluke what I used his code plug it appeared to not have TX and RX so I went back to the codeplug I had started and TX and RX worked. I'd like to use his code plug and just modify it some but if he used a different firmware version will it not work with mine? Thanks for a great program I absolutly love the Satelllite option!

I'm also now W8CPT so now I'm gonna see if its possible to change my username!

About the MD-9600, look at the user guide.

OpenGD77 codeplug format is universal across all the supported devices.
You can post it here, so we can check if it's fine or not.

Cheers.
