TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
Re: TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
The reason it's driving me nuts is it worked with D026.038.
I can't find that version anywhere.
I would think D026.045 is only a version up, so why would it not work.
Is there ant type of reset that works or recovery firmware.
I have recovered dozens of MD380's and GD77's with no problems, this really has me down.

I'm close to having a working firmware loader for the MD9600. I'm waiting for Colin G4EML to test it, to confirm its safe for other people to use.KC8USA wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:13 pmThe reason it's driving me nuts is it worked with D026.038.

When we're confident its working, I can make the Alpha firmware available for download using this loader exe

Thanks loads Roger for all you and Colin do.
I'm willing to jump on board anytime because of this unusual scenario.
Being in R&D for 40 yrs, the more Data/Samples the better, especially when you have an out layer.
Stay Safe, healthy & happy.

Re: TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
Of course there is still the possibility that there are a small number of an unknown fourth version out there!
TYT have been forced into making changes due to the chip shortages. They could easily have made a small batch of V4B.
It would be worth you emailing TYT and explaining your problem.
Colin.

Re: TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
V4A aka V5 seems to have FW with version numbers of V26.45 etc, which seem to be a higher version number than D026.038G4EML wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 11:59 pmOf course there is still the possibility that there are a small number of an unknown fourth version out there!

But that assumes their numbering system is incremental and logical
Re: TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
I emailed TYT with the same CPS Basic Info Page that I posted here.
I guess we'll see what they say.

This one (ver. A10K, 15mm) fit perfectly without modification.G4EML wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 5:55 pmRobert AA3RP.....
The closest Log pot that I have been able to find is made by ALPS part number RK09L1140A5E .
This is stocked in the UK by R.S Components and is also stocked by Mouser.
It is listed as being discontinued on the Mouser site but they still have stock available at the moment.
It fits the PCB layout perfectly, but the mounting thread is larger than the original so the front panel hole needs enlarging slightly and the mounting nut cannot be fitted. However it is not really needed and the knob fits perfectly, leaving the radio looking just like the original.
Colin.
Unfortunately you have to buy 5 pieces

Next one also fit after removing three pins of one audio channel

I used option no2. Now the volume control works fine throughout the range.

Re: TYT MD-9600 / Retevis RT-90 : Experimental version
Hi all, I could get either a MD9600 or a Retevis RT90. I read here that many users use a MD9600 for the OpenGD77 Alpha version.
Which device should I "buy". Is the MD9600 or the RT90 better for this. Which firmware works on the RT90 - or are there also different "versions" here.
Thanks, best regards
Chris

Hi,
Both are identical, only the sticker is different.
Cheers.

Hi,
Most people here don't really care about official firmware, only the OpenGD variation , but thanks for the tips.
Cheers.
