MD9600 DMR TIMEOUT

Post by Amz247 » Tue Feb 07, 2023 7:46 pm

I recently installed opengd77 on a md9600, everything is working as it should, except for one thing, whenever I try to access my local DMR repeater my md9600 times out. I’m using the same code plug that I use for my OPENGD77 RT3s. THE weird thing is that if I press the ptt twice in rapid secession it somehow gets access to the repeater and talk group.

Thanks in advance.

Check the radio is transmitting on exactly the correct frequency, using a freq counter with 100Hz or better resolution, and compare with your other radio

I normaly use a SDR receiver to calibrate all my radios to the same frequency.

Transmit on FM on each radio and observe the middle of the FM envelope

In the MD-9600 there are trim pots to manually adjust the frequency calibration

Its also possible some of the modulation controls in the factory calibration are not accurate in your radio

However you would need to reload the official firmware and use the official CPS to adjust those values

Also note that some MD9600s (early versions) had a problem when transmitting DMR on low power. Especially on VHF.
The DMR bursts are badly formed when operating at low power. This is a hardware design fault and nothing to do with the firmware.

Thanks Colin, I forgot about the hardware problems on the old radios

Which version of hardware?

For the, original poster amz247 was it v1 or up in v2 you might remember which firmware file you loaded? (Original CPS data info)

You have to look at the PCB to be sure of the hardware version. The official CPS does not always relport the actual hardware version
