I did it here and it only worked according to this scheme, the TXD pinout is inverted and it is connected to the RXD of the CP2102 converter, and the RXD is connected to the TXD of the converter.

Hi,
on the webpage

https://www.hamradioshop.pl/

they are offering the DM-1801. Obviously the new A6 Version with SN: 18DMxxxxxx. They are writing: the A6 Version is protected against updates with opengd. Therefore one should use an special CPS, which they have available for download by a link on their page. They are writing also, that a UV-5R cabel would be needed for programming t6he radio. This cable has a USB to RS-232 converter as described before. This info may can help.

Are you sure about the S/N, I would expect a 20DM1801xxxxxx

Cheers.

Hi, I downloaded the file, it's just cps and factory codeplug. Maybe there's a secret key combination I need to press...
Normally the official CPS application does not include the firmware loader. Baofeng and TYT and Radioddity etc always use separate applications for the firmware loader.
Because this is completely new radio, its possible there are no official firmware updates for this radio

Anyway, there is no purpose discussing the official firmware for this new type of DM-1801 because it can never be supported by the OpenDM1801 because the radio is actually a completely different model of radio with different CPU and different electronics etc etc

good morning, I tested using a cable for the UV-5R and it didn't work, it only worked with the cable I made, there is a difference in the TXD pinout between the UV-5R cable for this new model, the pins are inverted.

Where did you download your Gd73 C7000 driver?

I have not been able to update my GD77 since updating to Windows 10 in 2020, hence by GD73 is fairly useless as I can't update the firmware or codeplug

I'm waiting for 5 Baofeng DM1801 sent from China (M&M is the vendor). I've read of fake DM1801 models not flashable with OPENGD77 fw.
What is a quick check to verify this?
Maybe to enter DFU mode?
I've read also of different labelled (blue instead of orange) battery pack that should be a sign of fake models
Any suggestion?
TIA es 73

They are not 'fake' radios, its just that Baofeng completely changed the electronics and cpu etc inside the radio, but didn't change the model number.

The new model does uses a completely / incompatible CPU and AFIK there isn't a firmware loader even for the official firmware

Thanks.

Made some progress updating the official firmware on my GD73.
I still need to install the official CPS for this radio but it wanted to terminate Skype before it would install, which seems very strange, so I'll put the CPS on another less important PC

... I received my radio today and i'm trying to update the firmare?
Did you receive a specific firmware upgrade for the new A6 model of the 1801 ?

As said many times in this forum, the new Baofeng 1801 contains a complete different hardware/firmware,
just looks like the old one from the outside. In fact, it is complete different radio with the old name and look.
Unfortunately, there is - NO WAY - to load OpenGD77 firmware in this A6 model - and there are no chances
to do so in the future.
