Running both 6-frame and 13-frame versions on my 77’s with no dropouts or stuttering on either. The 16-frame seems smoother if I can characterize it that way. Current setup: ZUMspot (v0.6)/RPi3A+ (Pi-Star V4.1.0-RC8/20200219).

Great job, Roger et. al.

Literally, within five minutes and on the first Brandmeister voice call received, the GD77 dropped out of hotspot mode in the middle of an incoming voice call with the 13 frame version. I'm loading the 6 frame version now.

UPDATE: I tested the 6 frame firmware, and after speaking with Roger have reloaded this 13 frame software. This time I am not experiencing failures. The 13 frame experimental firmware been running on active talkgroups for about 9 hours so far today. No problems... So.... Good to go.

After a 35 minute drive. The results are amazing. 6 is definitely too low.
I suggest a higher number. I put 12 on my build and it seems pretty spot on. It's like a dream!

I tested on a couple different VHF repeaters, indoors, and while mobile within ranges of 7 to 35 miles away from them.

The first (6 frame) experimental version has been up and running on my hotspot for several hours, handling Brandmeister traffic for several talk groups.

As mentioned in the above update, I've been running the 13 frame firmware in hotspot mode for about 9 hours now. Good to go.

After making a route with the reception of several BSs, most of the time with marginal signals, I can say that the 13 frame version works really well.
The audio cuts did occur, but the return was smooth. without stridencies. Last week I went the same route and ended up closing the receiver as it was very difficult to understand anything and the noise was constant.
I think you did a great job, and a huge step forward.
Did you try the version with only 6 frame timeout.

I personally didnt notice any difference between 6 and 8 and 13
OK, my opinion, very subjective, is that the 13 frame version is better than the 6. I have done 120km with each of the versions, and I found the 13 frame to be more stable.
Both, but we are much better than the 2-frame version.

OK.

I think most people have probably tried the 13 frame (390ms) version, and it seems to work without any disadvantages, so I will update the master copy of the firmware to use that value.

After one day of intensive testing the best results for me have been with the 13 frames, close to the 6 frames version. Finally I've been able to listen to my dmo at home without almost any dropouts nor audio cuts. I was using the original Radioddity firmware because of this. I'm very happy, many thanks to the developers. I think from now onwards I will use the OpenGD77 firmware.
In any case, I will continue testing both versions in next days.

Update: The 13 frame experimental firmware has now been running for about 9 hours without problems. So, it looks good to go and the hotspot issue must be elsewhere.

I just ordered some RFI toroids to install on the USB cable to see if RF is getting in there.

Hi Roger, I put in the 13 frame version and so far no stuttering audio! I was getting stuttering audio quite often.
And the green led doesn't flash on and off either.
