Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
Hello GD77 team,
I have several questions:
1) What exactly does this channel setting (screenshot) do in the CPS ?
2) What does menu\options\display options -> "show dist: on" do ?
3) I have no GPS in the GD77 or RT3s.
4) What would it do if I have a GD77 or RT3s WITH GPS?
Thanks, Alfred

Re: Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
1. Coordinates of the repeater or whatever else (in this case hotspot) the channel settings specifies
2. Distance to the channels with coordinates is displayed on the bottom line of the screen (if no distance is available, you will see --- km)
3. Does not have to matter, location can be set manually. Go to Radio Info menu, use down arrow 3 times and you can enter the latitude and longitude by numeric buttons, N/S can be changed by arrows and E/W by SK2(?) + arrows (RT3s). Once you confirm with green button, the coordinates of the radio are set and the distances will be calculated
4. For radio WITH GPS, either you can set the coordinates manually before getting the position, or the GPS position will overwrite them and distance will be calculated accordingly

Re: Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
Hello, everyone!
I am trying to program my NON-GPS GD77 APRS and can not figure out how to do so with the CPS. Everytime I enter in the desired coordinates, they will not get saved and will disappear from the boxes they are supposed to be at. (See attached images)
The coordinates I am trying to enter in are the following: 40.6587N and 003.7663W
1) How are those coordinates supposed to be entered in the CPS?
2) Is the GD77 capable of decoding APRS beacons on receive to display callsign, distance and such?
I programmed the coordinates mentioned above in the GD77 and can send APRS beacons alright. However, I can not see other users beacons, which leads me back to question #2.
The firmware version in the GD77 is: 20230904082807
The CPS version I am using is: R2023.09.10.01
Thanks for taking the time to read this note. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
Hi,
Update to the latest CPS, there was a bug about coordinates in previous versions.
downloads/PC_CPS_20230910/Experimental/ ... .11.01.exe
Positive values are for North and East, negative for South and West.
Cheers.

2): nope, no decoding ATM.

Hello, Daniel!
Thanks for your quick and thorough reply. Now I can enter in the coordinates on the CPS and they will save correctly.
Best 73 from Spain!

Re: Latitude and Longitude in CPS ?
Unfortunately, this problem occurs again in the latest version of CPS. I cannot save position in CPS, and directly in a CSV file
Sorry, my mistake. I used a dot instead of a comma in the position coordinates and that was the reason. Everything works fine now
