Gd77 with 1.1.8 fw version

I have a gd77 radio with v1.1.8 fw is it safe to load the open gd77 firmware to it? I am having no luck finding the update.exe file needed to update the fw to 4.3.6.

Yous post doesn't make any sense.

The OpenGD77 project does not a file called update.exe


It doesn't matter what version of official firmware is already on the radio. The firmware gets completely overwritten when you use the OpenGD77 to install OpenGD77 onto the radio.

It is not necessary or advisable to change to another official version before installing the OpenGD77 firmware, becuase the official firmware versions occasionally have a nasty habit of bricking the radio when you change from one official version to another official version.

You do need the official firmware version 4.3.6 binary file, but only to act as a Donor for the DMR codec. This is for legal reasons associated with the codec.
