Does the RD-5R Open firmware put in transmission limits?

Post by W7ML » Wed May 31, 2023 3:53 am

I recently purchased the DM5R from AliExpress and successfully installed my RD5R codeplug and it works successfully on analog and DMR.

I thought I also used it to have a chat through a GMRS repeater, as my RD-5R successfully works on GMRS and MURS in analog.

Now I have installed the OpenRD5R firmware and it will not transmit outside of the USA Ham 440 MHz band.

Is this a limitation of the firmware I just installed?

If it's OpenGD77 you have installed on your RD-5R check in Options-> Radio Options -> Band Limits that you either have Off or CPS

Thank you for this tip and yes, in Radio Options, Band Limits is set to ON.

When I try to change this to OFF using the Menu button, it seems to exit the Menu Options altogether.

How do I toggle this setting?

UPDATE: Ah, the A/B button seems to turn it to OFF. I will test it now, but again thank you!

Maybe it would worth to take the time to read the whole user manual :D

If I read the whole 95 pages, then why would I pay the membership fee for this Forum?!?

Seriously, though, where/how do I make a donation?
