!! Danger!! !!ATTENTION!! Flash new firmware with old cps....

Post by oe7abh » Sat Apr 29, 2023 9:06 am

!!ATTENTION!!

If you flash the newest firmware from 23.04.2023 on the GD77, please use CURRENT CPS R2023.04.18.01 !!! Otherwise the device may not start !!!
Have already heard two QSO's today, where exactly this happened! Device can not be switched ON! So pay attention...

Bootloader damaged?

Any CPS version from 12th March onwards is OK

I just tested the GD-77, RD-5R and DM-1801 and when using older CPS, and there was no damage to the bootloader

When using the older CPS. The new firmware crashes, and the radio does not turn off.

So you must also remove and refit the battery.

It's true, I mistakenly mixed up the bin file and loaded the newer version with old software, the result is a useless dm1801. it also does not initiate boot mode when pressing the side buttons. If anyone knows a solution, I'm grateful.

Happy ending, :D
despair was stronger than sanity... the boot mode is not damaged, but the structure is changed. I managed to recover it in the following way: remove the battery from the radio, press the 3 side buttons plus the upper one and reinsert the radio. With this, the green light came on and the computer recognized the radio. to bring it back to life, I used an old firmware updater and an old version of dm1801 and voila! :D :D :D

No need of this.

Turn off the power switch,.
Pull the battery,.
Wait 2 secondes.
Reinsert the battery.
Press the key that boot into the bootloader.
Turn on the power switch.
Reflash the correct firmware this time.

Good afternoon, after updating the latest firmware, the equipment did not turn on anymore and does not enter programming mode. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or it only remains to occupy it as a paperweight, thank you very much in advance 73s
Tried the battery and nothing
