Hence it's not the latest one, despite it was mentioned many times that you need to use the latest version (2023.04.18.01) to be able to successfully flash the latest firmware.

Hi all !!!

All cases showing "bricked", are coming back to live !

As mentioned on previous messages....
Pull the battery,
Wait for at least 2 hours,
Place again the battery,
Try to load FW again.

In one case, this process had to be done at least 4 times till it worked.
And finally IT DID WORK !!!

Don't lose faith, it works...

Removing for 2 seconds is enough

I had the same black screen after flashing two GD77s with the beta firmware, but I think I figured out the issue!

On both of them flashing the beta firmware seems to have turned "Safe Power On" to ON. Unfortunately, when you turn on the power there is no indication of what is going on since you get a black screen so it looks like it's bricked.

To fix it all I had to do was hold SK1 while turning the power on and then go to "Options=>General Options=>Safe Pwr-On" and turn it OFF. After that they both worked fine.

My Baofeng DM1801 with the beta update stop working (bricked)and no sign of life.
The procedure that worked for me was to remove the battery and then press sk1 and sk2 and then insert the battery back, in this way, the green led turned on and the radio came back to life..

Press SK1 while powering-on, the setting "Safe Pwr-On" is enabled. https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_Us ... e-power-on

Killed the radio, no way.
Pulling the battery, resetting the settings, and voilà. The firmware can't kill any device. Don't spread false information please.

Running this beta firmware I think I've encountered a minor bug. Used the VFO --> New Channel function. New channel appears in the "All Channels" zone. Go to channel details, then find the name with the cursor being on the end. Move to the far left and rename the channel and hit the green button. The new channel name appears in the All Channel zone, but if you hit up or down and then return back to the new channel, the name has reverted to the default "New Channel xx" name.

I have tried this twice and get the same result both times. This is with a GD-77 and the firmware is 20230423083757.

I'm afraid this is the first version of the firmware I've ever used, so I can't tell if this is a regression or not (sorry).

Hi,

because, as documented, to permanently save any change, you have to press SK2 + Green.
Green only is a temporary change, until you switch to another channel, power-cycle, switch to VFO, etc...

Cheers.
