Safe power on

I found a bug with my DM5R that seems to be related.

If I enable "Save pwr-on" in "General Options" and turn off the radio or remove the battery, it won't boot until I reset the settings by pressing the MONI key and turn it on. This clears all settings which is annoying because the default contrast is too high and voice mode enabled by default. it takes me about 10 minutes to configure everything as I need them to be. It would be nice if there was a prompt asking if I want to clear the configuration or not.

The workaround I found is to leave "Save pwr-on" disabled and enable it individually in each channel.

Please let me know if it is worth testing without DMR enabled firmware and I will reflash without the patch.

Firmware info:

hope this helps.

Is this a bug on the RD5R, in which case why did you post it to the Click sound topic for the RT-3S?

I've had to manually split the RT3S topic and make a new topic for this

Are you sure to know how to use "safe power on" feature ?

Or perhaps their SK1 button does not work.

In which case they can't use that feature

Yeah, I also checked and it works.
Since the report is not mentioning any keypress, I'll go for a PEBCAK ;)

Oops, sorry, I just thought it could be related. Thanks for splitting it.

All the best

definitely

void RTFM (PEBCAK)
{
// Safe Power On
// This setting requires SK1 to be pressed when powering up the transceiver, preventing unwanted power-ups, such as when the
// radio is in a backpack, which can drain the battery. This parameter is also operational when suspend mode is enabled.
}

sorry for wasting your time, I'll be more careful next time.
And Kudos to all that contribute for this project.

The firmware is quite complicated in some areas. There are a lot of features available and only a limited number of buttons!

I have been helping write the firmware since the beginning but still sometimes need to RTFM, especially with things I don't use regularly.
