Do you have link?
This is the link where I purchased my DM-5R from AliExpress ($68 plus sales tax no shipping fee and arrived in about one week from China to Los Angeles; did not include USB programming cable, but uses same one as my RD-5R):

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568049 ... pt=glo2usa

I have been doing the research and will probably update it to the Open firmware tonight or tomorrow.

I also have a RD-5R from Raddioddity/Baofeng since 2016. I could not find a source to buy another one and I did not want to upgrade my original in case I brick it!

Yes, I can now confirm that the DM-5R that I purchased from AliExpress two weeks ago works with the OpenRD-5R firmware that is available on this Site.

I still have much to learn, but it works!

OK.

Looks like its the older style case, possibly old stock someone has found in a warehouse and is not selling. AFIK Baofeng can't manufacture the RD-5R , which was the new name for the DM-5R V2, as the CPU chip is still unobtainable following all the COVID chip shortages

Re: Baofeng Dm-5r; 220 MHz Ham Band

Here is something that the DM-5R may have that my RD-5R does not: the 220 MHz Ham Radio band!

I confirmed it will receive and I see no reason why it won't transmit as well!

UPDATE: Yes, I transmitted on the input frequency of a local repeater with the proper CTCSS tone set and it hits and triggers the repeater.

None of these radios have RF sections for the 220MHz band. They only have wide band VHF and UHF i.e approx 130 to 170Mhz and approx 400 to 500MHz, but nothing in between.

The RF chip in all the handhelds has a 3 band transceiver chip which has the 220Mhz band, so the radio will kinda work on 220Mhz, but the RF performance on both Rx and Tx is not good, and Tx is likely to have lots of nasty spurious emissions.
